Nick Menapace Mops Up For Martha Marx, Part 2, Immigration and Deportation

Lee Elci, 94.9 FM, asked Heather Somers about reports that Martha Marx is against the President's deportation policy, because we need immigrants; otherwise who will "wipe our butts and build our houses?" Somers had heard about that comment, but did not hear it herself. I, however, and 20 or more other people heard Marx make that comment at her public forum, in the East Lyme town hall, on the evening of April 3, 2025.

Marx's "butt wiping" vision for immigrants' futures in American is very much in tune with too many of the wealthy class she excoriated that evening. A vision of cheap labor to perform the hard, sometimes unpleasant necessary work. Dishwaters and "bus boys;" maids; nannies; janitors; yard workers; general laborers. The list goes on, but all sharing the commonality of being thrilled to have an income, wary of unions, uncomplaining about long hours. In other words, exploitable workers and depressed overall wages.

Nick Menapace mopped up for Martha. Waiting a polite interval so as to not embarrass Marx, he noted that he teachs a course for immigrants who are studying for certificate programs. Many of his students were doctors or other professionals in their native countries, and are taking certificate courses to become medical assistants while they seek licensing in the United States.

Nick didn't make the save on tariffs, however. He and Marx illogically spouted the anti-Trump foreign tariff party line while accepting ruinous tariffs against America. They, therefore, sided with the corporations growing fat on slave labor overseas while undercutting the skilled and semi-skilled American worker. Now we're full circle. Cheap, biddable labor at home; slaves overseas. Nick. Martha. Who is going to make the save for the American workers and foreign slaves? Come on. Break the chains.
